Yes. Generate the CipherEdge link and send just the URL via SMS. The sensitive PHI travels only over our encrypted infrastructure.
Is this method considered HIPAA-compliant for delivering results?
Providing appropriate access to PHI through encrypted channels satisfies HIPAA's right-of-access requirements. Combined with patient identity verification, this method is defensible.
What if a patient needs to view the results more than once?
Set the max views to 3 or 5 instead of 1. The patient can re-open the link up to your specified limit before it permanently deletes.
How do I verify the patient's identity before sending?
On Pro plan, add a shared password (e.g., date of birth) that the patient must enter before the results decrypt.
