Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Snapchat or Signal disappearing messages?
Snapchat and Signal store messages on their servers. CipherEdge uses zero-knowledge encryption — we only ever hold ciphertext and delete it on first read.
Can someone screenshot the message?
Screenshots are technically possible on any screen. Our Pro plan adds watermarks with the viewer's IP, creating forensic accountability even if screenshots are taken.
How long until the message expires if unread?
You choose: 1 hour, 24 hours, or 7 days. After the deadline, the message is automatically purged whether read or not.
Can I recall a self-destructing message before it's read?
Yes, on Pro plan. Find the secret in your dashboard and click Recall. The link becomes a permanent 404 immediately.
